Erin Wilde – Fort Worth’s Sweetheart

Goats fear Erin Wilde.  Why?  Because she is the multi-time champion of the goat milking competition at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.  Don’t be fooled buy her good looks, this lady can flat out milk a goat.

You may know Erin as the morning disc jockey on 92.1 HANK FM; however, she wears many hats. Erin is Mrs. Fort Worth (Texas International Pageants), has her own non profit, Break the Silence of Domestic Violence, mom to three and wife to a fellow dj.  Erin grew up on a ranch in South Dakota, attended high school in Sturgis and college in Minneapolis.  Her mother was a country music singer and performed on the Charlie Daniels’ Show.  During a family vacation to Nashville, Erin and her family were visiting Opryland when she walked past the Opryland radio station.  The morning disc jockey noticed Erin and invited her to come inside.  Teenage Erin was awe struck and knew right then and there that she wanted to work in radio.

Erin first started in radio in Rapid City, then Denver, onto Myrtle Beach and then Fort Worth.  While in Denver, Erin met her first husband who was an arena football player and she was an arena cheerleader.  Unfortunately this relationship was abusive but it led Erin to start her nonprofit, Break the Silence of Domestic Violence.  When I asked Erin why she decided to run for Mrs. Fort Worth she told me that it was a way for her to speak about domestic violence to an audience that may not otherwise hear her platform.  She works with Safe Haven, has hosted fashion shows, and other events. Erin takes any and every opportunity to get the word out about domestic violence.

She has truly been one of the nicest people that I have ever met in my life.  This girl’s heart is bigger than Texas. Erin says she never wants to leave Fort Worth and I’m with her on that.  Fort Worth is a great town and they can’t let their sweetheart leave.  Although the goats might be okay with her taking a break!

I asked Erin to tell me her favorite things in Fort Worth:

Event:  Forth Worth Stock Show & Rodeo

Restaurant: Horseshoe Hill

Date night:  Grace (they also have the best patio)

Adult beverage:  Chardonnay

Down time:  Hang out with her family and riding horses over at Nelson Ranch.
